Abdomend has created an amazing C-section recovery kit that every woman having this surgery should not be without. We've given it a HIGH five-star rating.

After your surgery, you put on a compression belt which covers your incision area and pulls everything in tight. This reduces the pain from the incision as well as adding extra support to your healing abdominal muscles. This is especially helpful when you try to get out of bed those first times which can be extremely painful. The bikini belt should be used for the first month post-C-section.

I didn't use the belt in the hospital, but started using it after I had returned home. I wish I had started using it right from the beginning. The added support truly does reduce the pain and gives you strength which you wouldn't have due to the surgery.

A physical therapist of ours recommended using it during all waking hours but then taking it off at night to allow your core muscles some time to develop again. Following these instructions, I've found incredible help from the belt when doing everyday things, even just feeding or picking up my newborn.

I can't say enough about this belt. This is my second C-section and I didn't have anything like it last time. I had a very hard recovery and it took me quite some time before I had built up any strength. With the belt on this time, within just a couple of days, I was feeling great and had plenty of strength. It's hard not to find false faith in your recovery as the belt makes you feel THAT good when wearing it. The price ranges from $99.90 - $103.90 depending on your size. The customer service is phenomenal and is very supportive. The Deluxe kit, which I had, also comes with a Hem-It-In Belt to be used for core support in the 2nd and 3rd months following surgery. There are massage techniques and tools to help you work on smoothing out your new or existing scars.

Overall, this product is phenomenal and something I would recommend for any woman going in for a C-section or any type of abdominal surgery!

I had an unplanned c-section December 27, 2009, with the birth of my first. I am still recovering and ask anyone who has gone through this–it’s hard. Especially with a newborn! I was told not to take the stairs, not lift anything heavier than my baby, no physical activity, etc. Pain is better now (4 wk pp), but especially at the beginning it was very hard to get out of bed or off the couch. I routinely took pain meds that made me fall asleep sitting up.. mid-sentence even! And at the same time took care of baby Ryan. There had to be something out there to help, right?!

The belts help reduce pain and accelerate your recovery. I feel like it also helps take in my belly! They really are comfortable to wear. A couple days ago I asked on twitter if sharp pain in the belly was normal with certain movements. It is, but… the pain is basically gone if I’m wearing the Abdomend. I can laugh without worrying about the pain!   The skin brush reduces swelling and ingrown hairs. The guide shows you techniques on how to use the brush to move fluids to reduce swelling and ways to compress your belly to minimize scar appearance.

The belt can also be used for support during pregnancy (& to help lessen stretch marks), after a vaginal birth to support your uterus and tighten your belly, or after any abdominal surgery!

Having a c-section, especially an unplanned one, can be stressful and traumatizing. Having the Abdomend can help make recovery a bit easier on you. You can buy the belts individually or as a kit.

The belt fit comfortably and helped me feel secure by keeping everything held snugly to my body. By things being held close to the body you get a lot of relief from discomfort and pain. The belt also offered extra support at a time when the stomach muscles are just not able to work. It's amazing how a little thing like getting from horizontal to vertical out of bed is a feat in those first few days.

I wore the C Section recovery belt for about 16 days and then only during the evening while sleeping. I wore the Hem-It-In belt for a month. The belts can offer extra support when you are tired, recovering and now carrying around your baby (normally more on one side than another). I would always encourage women to do this in conjunction with getting their core muscle groups working again at full capacity. Now I am actively trying to train and get my muscles activated and functional.

If you or a friend know you will be having a c-section, or have had one recently, you should check it out. This kit has made me so much more comfortable as I heal. It contains a well-designed supportive wrap that can be worn various ways. Unlike traditional wraps and elastic postpartum abdominal support bands that are one shape and size, this belt can be customized for your body's changing size and post c-section support needs. It comes with an extra support strap that velcros onto the wrap in the front or the back, to provide varying levels of pressure/support, offering immediate relief from c-section pain. I just wish I'd had this product from the get-go, in the hospital. It would have made getting up and walking, and sitting up to breastfeed so much easier. The kit also comes with a soft brush for body brushing and a booklet detailing how you can use the brush and simple massage techniques to speed your recovery and healing; The booklet also contains information on how you can dramatically minimize the appearance of your scar. It takes only minutes a day to do the massage but makes a tremendous difference in the final appearance and feeling of your c-section scar. Why didn't anyone tell me about this sooner?
